Marin Clean Energy
A couple of Marin County environmental activists created Marin Clean Energy (MCE) in 2010. It was the first California Community Choice Aggregator (CCA). CCAs control the purchasing of the electricity for its members. By aggregating purchasing power, they are able to create large contracts with generators, something individual buyers may be unable to do. The main goals of CCAs have been to either lower costs for consumers or to allow consumers greater control of their energy mix, mainly by offering "greener" generation portfolios than local utilities. Watch the video on the history of our CCAs below.
When we choose Marin Clean Energy Deep Green we are opting for electricity generated from renewable resources. PG&E maintains the distribution (getting the electricity from the generator to the home). PG&E will still deliver the energy to your home and bill you.
